The Australian Battery Recycling Initiative (ABRI) is a not-for-profit association established in 2008 to promote responsible environmental management of batteries at end of life.
ABRI CEO Dr Helen Lewis has kindly assisted during the development of the EXITCYCLE pilot with recommendations on reporting requirements for battery recyclers and further technical information. Lighting Council Australia will continue to work closely with ABRI and its members.
It is hoped that ABRI’s Power Tools Batteryback pilot and Lighting Council Australia’s EXITCYCLE pilot will assist with planning for a national industry driven stewardship scheme for handheld batteries.
